The market has exploded with dozens of new vaporizer models, ranging from small pocket-sized devices to large and ornate desktop vaporizers that can accommodate multiple users.
How vaporizers work
Despite the variety of vaporizers available on the market, they all work in basically the same manner. All vaporizers contain a heating element that heats up your herbs, which are placed in a bowl or receptacle. Some models include a dome that fits on top of the bowl, basically preventing any vapor from escaping. When heated, the herbs release a vapor, leaving behind many of the harmful impurities.
If you haven’t tried a vaporizer before, you might be pleasantly surprised at how effective they are. In contrast to breathing smoke into your lungs, vaporizing provides a much cleaner, smoother inhaling experience. And the smoothness of the vapor benefits more than just your throat. Herbal smoke contains considerable amounts of toxins and carcinogens, none of which are any good for the health. The good news is that the vaporizing process removes most of these harmful substances, allowing you to enjoy your herbs without worrying about any ill-effects on your health.
Purchasing a vaporizer
Most vaporizers intended for home use are designed to be plugged into a wall socket. This allows you to use them without having to repeatedly spend on batteries, which is definitely a drawback of using portable vaporizers. While the need for a mains power source means that you can’t take these vaporizers wherever you go, they are perfectly suitable for home use.
Home vaporizers can cost anywhere from $50 to a few hundred dollars. The more expensive models on the market feature numerous mouthpieces that allow multiple users to inhale vapor at the same time. These models are perfect for group sessions and parties.
If you don’t plan on vaporizing socially, a more modestly-featured model might be right up your alley. There are numerous mid-priced models you can buy, and they generally do a good job of vaporizing your herbs. Although there are many affordable models of vaporizers, you don’t necessarily want to buy the cheapest one available. You also have to consider durability and quality of vaporization, and few of the cheaper models really provide that.
